The monastery is on top of the mountain in place, where an arrow dropped by the great teacher Padmasambhava fell. Almost a thousand years after this event, during the coronation ceremony of the first ruler of Sikkim, a bright beam of light appeared on the site of the future monastery, shining over the summit of Kanchenjunga. Behind the monastery is a Chorten stupa, in which a particle of the ashes of the Buddha was laid. In the monastery itself is stored a magical pitcher with holy water sealed in the 17th century, which miraculously never empties.
