1. Varadvinayak: this temple is situated 3 km away from Mumbai-Pune highway in Khopoli. Grutsamad, father of demon Tripurasur worshipped Ganesha to get rid of a curse in forest of Pushpak. There he founded this temple and named it Varad Vinayak. Two idols of Ganesha and two stone idols of Riddhi, Siddhi are placed in 2 corners of this holy temple. Heavy rush of devotees is seen here during Maghi-Chaturthi.
2. Ballaleshwar: This temple is situated at 125km away from Mumbai, in village of Pali on the banks of River Amba. The idol of Lord can be found sitting on a stone throne facing towards East with his trunk on left. The shape of the temple is formed in the shape of Sanskrit letter ‘Shri’. And it is designed in such a way that during Dakshinayan, at sunrise, the sun rays fall directly on the holy idol. 
3. Mahaganpati: This temple is located at 50 km away from Pune-Ahmednagar highway in village Ranjhangaon. It is said that Lord Shiva got victory over demon Tripurasur on worshipping Mahaganpati. The east facing idol is seated in a cross legged position and its trunk is positioned on the left. It is constructed in such a way that during Dakshinayan, at sunrise, the sun rays fall directly on the idol of Lord.
4. Chintamani:  This temple is located off Pune-Sholapur highway in village of Theur. Devotees often visit Chintamani temple to get rid of their worries and calamities. It is said that Ganesha got back the jewel Chintamani from Guna for sage (Rishi) Kapila. Kapila put that jewel back in Ganesha’s throat thus, gaining the name Chintamani Vinayak. There’s a lake behind this temple called Chintamani Sarovar.
5. Siddhivinayak: Also known as Siddhatek, this temple is situated off Pune-Sholapur highway, about 48 km from the Shrigonda town in Ahmednagar district. This beautiful idol is 3 feet tall with its trunk on the right side. Pradakshina of this temple is said to be very fruitful. The temple was consecrated by Lord Vishnu himself when he got his enlightenment here.
6. Mayureshwar: Mayureshwar Ashtavinayak temple is situated at Morgaon near Pune. The temple is built with Black stone and is known to be constructed during reign of Bahmani sultanate (14^th to 16^th century). The Ganesha Purana mentions the significance of this temple in total 22 chapters and this temple in Morgaon is known to be one of 3 most sacred sites of Lord Ganesha.
7. Vighneshwar: Also known with name Vighnahar, this temple is situated on the banks of river Kakudi, in village Ozhar, Saralgaon. This is the only temple of Lord Ganesha with a golden dome and pinnacle. At the entrance there are 2 huge deepmalas i.e. pillars for oil lamps. The idol is smeared in vermillion mixed with oil with two emerald studded eyes and a diamond on forehead.
8. Girijatmaj: This is the only temple of Ganesha established in mountains in the vicinity of Buddhist caves. It is situated in Narayangaon, 94 km from Pune, on Pune-Nashik highway. There are total 307 steps leading to temple of Girijatmaj. Out of 18 Buddhist caves on the mountain, Girijatmaj is 8^th among them. The entire temple is carved out of single black stone and the idol is facing towards south.
